Blackwood Associates, Inc. was responsible for designing the first School Building Authority funded Needs Project for Marion County Schools. The new Blackshere Elementary School was a consolidation of Mannington, Downs and Farmington Elementary Schools. Construction started with bidding and awarding a Site Work package separate from a General Construction contract.

The steel frame, metal stud structure was enclosed with multi-colored concrete masonry units. Blackshere Elementary School was designed and sited on rural farm property to accommodate the future construction of additional classrooms.
