New Martinsville Elementary School Additions

Wetzel County Schools was awarded $1.1 million by the School Building Authority for additions to New Martinsville School in December 1996. The funding was to provide new kindergarten facilities, cafeteria and kitchen. Blackwood Associates, Inc. was selected to provide architectural/engineering and food service equipment design.

BAI designed the new cafeteria and kitchen addition to provide a physical connection between two existing buildings (K-1) (2-8). The structure accommodates a substantial change in elevation between the original buildings and provides a “new” entrance and image for the school. A separate addition on the K-1 building provides a kindergarten room and corridor access to outside playground areas.
