Steenrod Elementary
School
Ohio County Schools

Steenrod Elementary School was funded by a 1993 $14,800,000 Bond Issue passed in Ohio County by 77.4%.
Blackwood Associates, Inc. was commissioned prior to the Bond vote and
assisted the School Administration with evaluation of buildings and determination of needs. BAI subsequently provided architectural/ engineering services on 15 different Bond projects and construction was complete in early 1996.
Steenrod Elementary School is the consolidation of the former Steenrod and Parkview Schools. BAI services included providing assistance in evaluation of properties prior to the decision to use existing County school property. The project scope-of-work then required the relocation of the Triadelphia Middle School football field and athletic building.
The unusual configuration of the two-story structure resulted from the triangular piece of ground that was available for construction. A special design feature in the building is the placement of tutor rooms adjacent to all regular classrooms.
