In December 1997, the School Building Authority selected Tucker County High School as a major needs project under 1998 funding. The original $1.2 million grant was increased in 2000 along with previously awarded major improvement funds to solve several problems at the school:
-
Reconstruct and re-roof the Career Center Building to solve water and roof icing problems.
-
Construct a 10,500 sf. addition that
connects the Career Center Building and present High School. The addition
included a new entrance/lobby, student commons area, media center, science lab and art room.
-
Replacement of the existing High School mechanical and ventilation system to meet current codes and requirements.
-
Construction of an 8,000 sf. addition to include a new 250 seat auditorium and music facilities.
Additions to Tucker County High School was released by Blackwood Associates, Inc. for bidding purposes in the Winter of 1999. The project
has almost completed construction.
