Experience:
As President of Blackwood Associates, Inc., James Blackwood has been architect-of-record
on more than seven hundred projects. These projects have been located in 41 counties in
West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio and Virginia and have totaled over $500
million in current dollar construction value. Individual project budgets have varied from
a low of $30,000.00 to a high of $30 million.
James Blackwood has
directed the BAI staff in the planning and design of facilities throughout West Virginia,
including High Schools, Middle Schools, Vocational Facilities, Recreational Facilities,
Athletic Facilities, Elementary Schools, Colleges/Universities, Hospitals, Churches,
Governmental, Historical, Commercial and Apartment facilities.
Mr. Blackwood leads the programming
and planning efforts for the firm on all projects. His responsibilities include meeting
with design committees, administrators and Owner representatives. The information gained
from this input is used to guide the BAI design team in development of the most cost
effective and imaginative facilities. BAI school design efforts have been recognized
for DESIGN EXCELLENCE by the WV Society of Architects.
